Affiliate Income Learn Marketing Secret - Fast and Easy

by Larry James

One of the more lucrative online businesses is affiliate marketing. Many people who have delved into this endeavor have made quite a lot of income. In this article we want to share with you some tips and ideas to make your affiliate business start to buzz. While these tips only scratch the surface of your marketing effort, they are essential for you to establish the foundation for your affiliate business.

What is an Affiliate? In any affiliate business you have essentially two persons who act as partners. One is the merchant or the person who has something (product, service) for sale, and the affiliate. The role of the affiliate is to extend the marketing ability of the merchant so as to increase her sales. This is usually done by the affiliate driving traffic (visitors) to the merchant's web site where the visitor can buy the merchant's goods. When the visitor buys, the merchant shares a portion of the sale with the affiliate. This sales commission can be anywhere from 10% to 75% and more. Through the affiliate process, the merchant can minimize his advertising budget and pass the savings on to his affiliates.

How Does an Affiliate Market for the merchant?

In order to refer visitors to your merchant/partners site there are a few basic things you need to do. If you do these you should establish a solid foundation for creating a recurring income stream for yourself.

* Create a web site from which you will promote your merchant's product. Be sure to get a short site name that will be easy for visitors to remember. It is best not to use a free site builder but invest a few dollars to build your site so it will stand out from the crowd and announce that you are a serious business owner.

* Make sure you include testimonials from satisfied customers. Cite the product benefits. That is, how this product or service will make your visitor's life easier, more fulfilling or will save him time or money. People tend to be more attracted to what's in it for them than they do in parading out all of the product's bells and whistles, although you should certainly highlight a few of these. Make sure your site is clean, easy to read and includes easy to find links to the merchant's site. You might also want to capture your visitors email address and name and permission to send them other products they might find beneficial. You can get an auto responder and send them periodic messages to remind them that they might be interested in buying your product. Having a "refer this site to your friends" section of your site can generate viral interest and increase your site traffic.

* Do a little basic research and write short (200 - 1000 word) articles about your product field. These should not be sales pitches but should provide value to the visitor by educating them about aspects of the industry in which you are engaged. Try to crank out a few articles a week to keep the traffic coming to your site in order to generate more sales. You don't have to write about your specific product, rather write about the category in which it falls. For instance, if you are an affiliate for a famous handbag maker, you won't write about that brand, but possibly about the benefits of purchasing a quality purse in general. Or, you could write about how to make sure you find an original designer purse and easily identify fake or knockoffs. Make sure you place your resource box, (box that refers your visitor to the sales page), at the end of the article directing your reader to your merchant's site

* Advertise your affiliate site through "pay per click" services Like Google Adwords or Yahoo Adbrite. If your budget is limited starting out, advertise on free advertisement sites. These sites actually get a variety of visitors who will visit your site. Tout the benefits of your product or service in your ads. You can find free ad sites by typing in your search engine, "free advertisements" or "What are the best free ad sites?"

* You can also try to get advertisements in e-zines related to your product.
