3 Keys to Affiliate Success

For many people affiliate marketing has much in common with leprechauns and pots of gold. It doesn't have to be a pipe dream as top affiliate marketers regularly demonstrate. Why then do so many other people struggle to make a half-way decent profit and what is the secret to successful affiliate marketing?

Look, this isn't rocket science. There are at three principle keys to affiliate success.

1) Select a great product to promote. If you get your product choice wrong you will never ever be successful. Of course if you hedge your bets and choose to promote a selection of products then it doesn't matter quite so much if one is a poor choice.
If you do manage to select a rotten product then drop it like a hot potato as soon as you realise. There is no point promoting something that nobody wants.

2) Find products with high conversion rates. Contact the owners of the affiliate program and ask them to provide details of their conversion rates.

3) Find products with high commissions. Always look for products that pay well for every sale. The commission that you absolutely must get for each sale depends upon how you plan to do your marketing. If you are going to rely on natural traffic to your website to make your sales then you can afford to take lower commission items. If however you are using something such as "pay per click" to do your marketing then you should look for perhaps $40 or $50 per sale. Whatever you get per item , it must well exceed what it costs you on average to get a sale.

That's it really. It isn't hard if you do the math. Choose your items carefully and success awaits.
