Advertising, you can't live with it and you can't live without it.
No matter what type of business you are associated with, you simply must
advertise to stay in business and be competitive...... but guess what? It
doesn't come cheap.
Most brick and mortar businesses utilize different forms of advertising
ranging from the Yellow Pages to large ads in print media to radio and
television ads. These means of advertising can take a large chunk out of
your budget.
When it comes to affiliate marketing, the primary means for exposing your
product or service is through the Internet. Advertising on Internet search
engines such as Google or Yahoo involves bidding on keywords in a pay-per
click campaign for ad exposure. Pay-per-click or PPC means that when someone
clicks on your ad, you pay that bid price for that keyword used in the
search. The higher your "per-click" bid, the better exposure your ad will
get.
All of the above methods over time can prove to be quite costly when you
are just starting out and operating on a shoestring budget but there is one
way though to generate publicity towards your affiliate marketing program
that is easy and very friendly to your wallet. The most overlooked method of
creating publicity for your business is really quite fundamental and can be
done with three simple lines of text:
Your Name
Your Business Name or Your Domain Name
Your City and State
Throughout the world, there is a ton of newspapers, magazines, online
ezines and websites. Every single newspaper, magazine and online ezine
generally accepts and publishes "Letters to the Editor." Also, webmasters
are typically looking for substantial testimonials that they can use on
their websites.
Think about it, if you were to take the time to read a few publications
or visit a few websites and take the time to notify the publisher of your
thoughts, you might just find your comments being published in all sorts of
locations. You never know just where your next paying customer might come
from, so take the time to get yourself quoted in these media outlets. You
might just find more and more traffic and sales coming from places where you
would never think to buy advertising.
Taking time out of our busy lives to read a few publications or websites
might be time consuming, but the end justifies the means here. You must look
at the big picture which is the survival of our business.
So make that small sacrifice today and write that letter to the editor
and don't forget to identify yourself with:

Your City and State
