Before Using Affiliate Programs Read This
by Adrian Alexa
Many individuals sign up as an affiliate for some site and start selling
their products, hoping for many commissions. The result in most cases is
totally the opposite. Ad space is wasted and absolutely no profit is gained.
In other situations one may gain some commissions but not enough or not as
many as the blog can generate. This is because, just as with any online
money making solution, there is a need to know more about the situation.
Going by one's instincts is never enough. It might be but such a situation
can lead to another Google and there are 99.99% chances we will not have
that incredible idea. With this in mind, if you want to use affiliate
programs in order to generate profits, you should take a look at these tips.
I did a lot of research on the subject in order to provide you with
important information. The results may not seem that incredible but if you
take a closer look you will understand that they are important and can help
you a lot in your quest to maximize your affiliate program earning
potential.
The first thing you need to do is take your time. Do not launch the
affiliate program if your blog is young because you will not have enough
time to analyze all the factors involved. You could instead use a PPC
affiliate program. Once you have a bigger amount of traffic start taking a
good look at your visitors. There are many tools you can use that can let
you know exactly from where people are coming and you can even set up polls
on your blog/site in order to gain more details. Think about the
visitor/reader and neglect the product. You need to chose the program you
will be promoting by looking at your visitors and not just put in any
program just because statistics show that it sells better than the others.
It might not work for your audience.
After taking a good look at your visitors you need to choose a quality
product to market using your blog. You should realize that choosing a simple
product without truly knowing all the details about it can be very damaging
to your image, especially if you are a blogger. You, the blogger, have some
sort of reputation set up with your readers. They keep visiting because they
find something interesting in your blog and you can destroy this unsaid
confidence if you promote a bad product. You do not want to lose your
readers just because a product can gain you some money. On the long run you
will end up losing if reader numbers decrease. You have to get involved with
the given product and tell your visitor the truth about it, the goods and
the bads and basically, you need to be as honest as you can. Trying out the
product first is an added plus.
Now that you know what products you want to sell via your blog you need
to start placing affiliate links in your blogs. Do not think that all you
need to do is just copy paste a given piece of code and the money will start
pouring in. You need to use the exact same Adsense placing tips with
affiliate programs as well. Do not just tell people "Buy this stereo
system". Tell them about the system, review it and after that place the
links inside the post. Contextual links are always bringing in more sales
than banners somewhere to the side of the page. With blogs you have an added
plus because you can actually place the links right in the middle of what
the visitor is reading.
The last thing you need to do is actually the one you started with. You
need to analyze results! Do not just stay with one product but diversify.
Combine affiliate programs with other income methods and keep on following
the steps mentioned above. It might turn out to be quite a big amount of
work but, as you might know, with commissions that sometimes reach hundreds
of dollars per sold product, it is worth the work if done properly. Always
stay informed and keep on informing your self and knowing what you are
doing. Do not neglect affiliate programs as they can bring in a large amount
of money if properly implemented!
