It's Time To Maximise Your Affiliate Commissions

Signing up with affiliate programs is the easy part. Usually they are
only too happy to have you on board. The commissions seem generous and you
sit back and wait for the money to come in. But if you are like most people,
you will find that the hoped-for profits don't materialize. People are just
not buying your affiliate products.
It is no good sitting back and doing nothing. Making profit from
affiliate programs takes work. Here are some steps you can take to start
seeing the affiliate payments roll in.
1. Build your own web site. You often hear people claim that you can make
money from affiliate programs without having your own web site. But the most
experienced and successful affiliate marketers will not agree. One
successful marketer has said that trying to market online without a site is
like trying to build a house without a hammer. It can be done, but won't be
done properly or effectively.
If you are inexperienced in building a site, there are some excellent
WYSIWYG programs you can download - some for free. Or visit elance.com where
you will find people bidding to build your site for you. Don't be tempted by
programs that offer you your own ready-made site, this means there will be
dozens on the Net just like yours. And don't use an affiliate domain name -
get your own. Try to get a domain that has some connection with your
product.
2. Write reviews of your products. It is essential that your prospects
know that you can genuinely recommend your products. Make sure you use them
and write on your site about why you like them. Your prospects need to know
why they should buy the product. Ideally you should only recommend and sell
products that you genuinely feel enthusiastic about.
3. Start a blog. An excellent way of getting traffic to your site is to
set up a blog and link it to your site. With a blog, you are constantly
adding fresh content to your site and search engines love that! Fresh
content helps boost your ratings even if it isn't keyword optimized but
better still if it is.
There is an excellent free site that enables you to start a blog very
easily. Keep linking to your site and put a link at the end of each post.
This will increase your link popularity. If your information is good it will
get you known as an authority on your subject. And don't forget you can
advertise your products on your blog - but don't overdo it.
4. Write articles. Writing articles is one of the best ways to gain
exposure for your products, as well as getting known as an expert in your
field. Submit your articles to as many article sites as you can and don't
forget to include a link to your site in the resource box.
If you really don't feel able to write articles, there are article
exchange sites and private label articles you can use. The key to successful
article writing is to provide good information and tips. Make sure your
article doesn't seem like an outright sales pitch.
6. Forums, newsgroups and message boards. Join forums, newsgroups and
message boards connected to your business. Give people a reason to visit
your site. Forums are places where people share their questions and
problems. Find out what questions and problems they have and write posts
showing they will find answers on your site. Include a link to your site in
your signature.
7. Use text links. Your affiliate program will offer you a choice of
links to put on your site - banners, pop-ups or text links. Always choose
text links. They look so much more professional. Banners annoy people and
make the page take longer to load and most people have pop-up blockers
enabled on their browsers. All this takes hard work but you will soon see
the benefits as you realize that people are beginning to buy your products.
The more products you sell, the more commissions you will get and the more
profitable your Internet venture will become.
